Dianetics: The
Modern Science of Mental Health

A good read for someone interested in exploring the mind.
Having read this as well as many other of Hubbard's books, I
find some of the negative comments by some readers to be somewhat lubricious. It always
amazes me when someone can profess such strong opinions about something that they are
obviously so ignorant about with such clear consciences. As far as the accusation of
undocumented research claims, one can see in the original, published works of Freud
and Jung,
a similar omission if what one means by documentation is a publication of a detailed set
of case histories. However, we know that they had reams of documentation that the
publisher would never include in a popular offering. The truth is, there are some very
interesting ideas proposed in this book, and either they're real to you or they are not.
You be the judge.

Very Useful Data!
The importance of Dianetics, in MY
judgment, is that it so clearly illustrates the common truth about how your mind works. It
also illustrates to you many of the fallacies of our time in regards to psychological
ills, since you'll know more about the human mind after reading the first two chapters of
this book than just about any expert practicing in the current mental health industry!
Books like this do harm ONLY if the technology is misunderstood or misused. It seems to me
that it does much to simplify a subject that has been made to appear complicated by
others. Read it!

'Dianetics Works'
I've used Dianetics in my life since
1973. Before that I had read dozens of other books: positive thinking, most of the world
religions, Freud , Edgar
Cayce, New
Age, etc. I had gone to the Catholic church when young and later practiced Yoga and
meditated, then went to Europe for a year, hoping to find some answers. I did a course in
Washington, D.C. called the 'Communication Course' using Hubbard's concepts and handled my
main problem in life - communication (shyness, boyfriend problems, talking on stage). Then
I read Dianetics and got Dianetic counseling. I have reached a state called 'Clear'
which is described in the book. Everything I was looking for I found in this subject. I
was not a mess before; I was a professional singer, had a degree, a close family, upper
middle class upbringing. I am not that much different now; I just don't have any of those
things I didn't like about myself. I'm not shy, I have tons of confidence, I love school
again, I have no trouble with relationships, very very very happily married. I raised an
incredible kid with it who is not a 'problem teenager.' I still look young at 50 ,have no
aches and pains, don't go to doctors or get colds. While getting Dianetics I opened up new
skills. I now write professionally ( have put out a poetry magazine for 7 years ), teach
and tutor kids, talk on the radio for a human rights group . When I turned 50 I decided to
go after an old goal I had forgotten about - acting - which I am now pursuing. I look
great, live on the water, drive a sports car and have an incredible sense of personal
freedom. There is no doubt in my mind that this stuff works. It gives you back yourself
without any of the garbage. Totally aware, not drugged, not a conformist, just the true
and beautiful you. Thanks.

Great Book.
This book explains how our evolutionary history has left behind
frailties in the operation of human mind and suggests a therapy for removing these
frailties. It claims that if it's techniques are applied brutality will never again be
needed to regulate human affairs, and mitigates specifically against operations upon the
human brain which was widely used by psychiatry at the time of its publication and
electrocution of the human brain which, sadly, is still widely used. Unsurprisingly it is
a fairly hard study, but if you want to change the world that's exactly what you should
expect.

THE MOST IMPORTANT BOOK EVER WRITTEN
I not only read Dianetics but experienced the results of its
processing. The life-changing realizations I've experienced, and the freedom that came
from understanding, cannot be described. To fully understand the importance of this work,
it must be experienced. This is science, not art. Don't skip any words you don't fully
understand. Look them up in a dictionary. Those who don't understand the book don't get
it.
