Challenging the
Therapeutic State: Critical Perspectives
Modern society has been inundated with a new "modern" approach to handling situations and life where drugs are proclaimed to be the "instant cure-all". Large drug companies direct the "studies" and fund the schools which teach (i.e. indoctrinate) this new view of reality. This view is largely arbitrary, not based on legitimate science, and more profit motivated than anything else. Viewing all problems people have as biologically-based "disorders" and "mental illnesses" removes the concept of personal responsibility from the equation of life because the new view treats all these conditions as something "the patient suffers from" like a broken arm or cancer. In fact, the majority of problems with a mind, such as depression, anxiety, insomnia and compulsions are not diseases in any traditional medical sense of the term. Therefore attempts to cure them from that view can and only will ultimately fail. Drugs, especially psychiatric drugs, ALL have negative and harmful side-effects. The practicing doctor or psychiatrists doesn't often tell their patients the facts about side-effects and often themselves are not even aware of them. Anybody considering taking any psychiatric drugs needs to learn the facts about them before ingesting what are in most cases unknown harmful chemical agents. * * * People DO have various problems with life and their own mind. Instead of naming and redefining these problems as various so-called biologically-based "mental diseases", and labeling people with them, as is currently done within the psychiatric community, these problems with life and living are best understood and addressed outside of the traditional psychiatric paradigm. Why? Because psychiatric "treatments" such as ECT, lobotomy, and powerful psychotropic drugs are based upon severe faulty scientific methodology, and quite simply, harm people. Learn the truth about psychiatry and drugs.
