and Project Paperclip, 1945 to 1990 by Linda Hunt US officials after WW II rewrote the records of German scientists & smoothed the way for many of them to enter the US. This was even true for "ardent Nazis". The rationale of the American CIA and government was that the German "mind" and technology was needed to battle the Communist threat. The Germans were all too willing as they were an enemy of Communism, and this also gave many actual war criminals a way to escape punishment. The upcoming Cold War gave the US government the excuse to do protect and hide numerous Nazis. Nazi scientists, professors and doctors were given new identities, and along with their families were secretly brought into the US and other countries. The American space program became a veritable haven of ex-Nazis (i.e. Werner Von Braun and others). This is especially important regarding the field of psychiatry, because psychiatry played a large part in the "scientific" justification for eradicating "useless eaters", the "mentally retarded" and anyone considered inferior by the Third Reich. Today similar ideas of eugenics and psychiatric abuse have again taken hold in this and other countries under the guise of "modern science", and often the source of these ideas are the same Nazis who were brought over after WW II.
