| Once modern psychiatry,
psychology and philosophy bought into the views of naturalism - the view
that all things should and MUST be explained solely by visible, physical
events and forces - then also began the disappearance of the notion and
importance of the human mind.
Instead of observing, investigating, and
attempting to understand the various functions of a mind, such as
attention, imagination, concentration, will and thought, the "modern" approach
has been to completely ignore these and instead concentrate on only what
can be seen - things which can be measured, quantified, and objectively
observed. With regards to the mind, this is truly inane, because it surely
does
exist, yet the only person who can ever "perceive" or experience it "as
it is" is the person whose mind it is! It is not available to what science
normally considers "objective testing". It is effectively "invisible".
But instead of acknowledging this, the tendency has been to ignore, deny
and forget about the human mind, because of the inherent prejudice of modern
naturalistic science against all things "invisible" - things which are
considered to be "religious" (i.e. gods, demons, disembodied entities,
spiritual realities) and therefore, to most "scientists" abhorrent.
The "modern" tendency is to attempt to explain
the mind, and all it's characteristics such as consciousness, will, imagination
and thought, in terms of biology, biochemistry, and neurology. It's quite
absurd. None of the "educated professionals" ever deal with the mind itself
and what it does, but instead play with all types of concepts, theories
and models which attempt to explain their own incomplete and very limited
views of it. Far too often they play mind and word games, dealing with
concepts, which never actually closely relate to a real mind and
all it does. Also, NEVER has any "modern" psychological approach investigated
the human mind with the aim to empower individuals to learn about, control
and develop their own mental abilities.
As an example, drills could be developed
which "exercise" one's ability to direct their attention, both internally
on "mental" things, and externally on "physical" things. People practicing
these drills would gain self-control over where their attention falls -
it would be less due to the "demands of the environment" (i.e. less stimulus-response
based) and would become more dependent on their own personal choice. But
such an idea seems to make no sense to the modern "brain scientists" -
they would rather play with chemicals, drugs, genetics and biology. Actually,
I think they simply can't "see" the mind - it truly doesn't exist for the
modern materialist. They are effectively blind in this area.
The thoughts of "modern" thinking men have
erased the notion of thought. The wills of men have demanded a non-mental
rendition of will. The vivid imaginations of men have consigned imagination
to a garbage bin, viewing it as some strange by-product of chemical reactions
in a brain. Awareness has become biology. Thought has become nerve maps.
Intention has become learned synaptic tendencies. It's all trash, and this
trash is being rammed down our throats from almost every segment of the
"scientific" establishment - a group much falsely elevated in importance,
knowledge, validity and value.
