Cancer Therapy - an Optimistic and Realistic Guide
Hi! I'm Ralph Moss, author of Cancer Therapy. I'd like to tell you how and why I came to write this book.

I have been involved in writing about the cancer field for more than 25 years. In 1989, my book Cancer Industry was republished. As gratifying as this was, many friends urged me to write a practical handbook for patients on the most promising non-toxic treatments for cancer.

I decided to do so, and to show that such treatments were often well documented in the medical literature. Above all, I wanted the book to be both optimistic and realistic, with thorough references to the medical literature.

This turned out to be a daunting task. I worked for a year-and-a-half on the most intensive research schedule of my life. At the time, accessing the medical literature was not as simple as it is today. I spent hundreds of hours and literally thousands of dollars on on-line services. Some nights I was so excited by what I found that I could not sleep. The book was finally completed in 1992.

In the meantime, things were moving quickly in Washington. Sen. Tom Harkin created the Office of Alternative Medicine (OAM) and in 1992, I was asked to serve as a charter member of the government's Alternative Medicine Program Advisory Council (AMPAC). The first copy of Cancer Therapy was presented to the acting Director of the National Institutes of Health at a historic meeting that fall.

I remain very proud of Cancer Therapy. It contains a discussion of 102 treatments and over 1,000 medical references. The book has sold steadily and is now in its ninth printing. It has been translated and printed into several foreign languages, including Japanese. It has also raised the level of debate on this topic around the world and demonstrated that many alternative treatments are not accepted more for economic than for scientific reasons.

After publication of this book, I began to do personal consultations for readers. This eventually led to The Moss Reports, an extensive series of in-depth reports I have written on the optimal treatment for nearly every cancer diagnosis, no matter how rare.

Most readers find Cancer Therapy very useful in understanding their choices. The resource sections are kept up-to-date. I am currently writing a series of books that will update the various sections. Herbs Against Cancer was first and my forthcoming book on antioxidants will continue that work.
